Barie Honored with Teaching Excellence Award
PLATTSBURGH, NY __ This year's recipient of the Teaching Excellence Award for Adjunct
Faculty at the State University of New York College is a familiar face in the community.
Many people know Mark Barie as founder and president of CrossBorder Development Corporation
in Rouses Point and host of "Mountain Lake Journal," which airs weekly on Mountain
Lake PBS-TV.
What many people might not know is that Barie, a 1975 graduate of SUNY Plattsburgh, has taught a number of classes at the College since 2001. And for his hard work and dedication as an adjunct faculty member, SUNY Plattsburgh President John Ettling recently honored Barie with the 2005 Teaching Excellence Award.
As an adjunct faculty member, Barie has taught classes in such areas as marketing for non-profits, Canadian-U.S. business, human resource management and public relations. Barie has a master's from St. Michael's College in Vermont and received a graduate certificate in advanced management from McGill College in Montreal.
He has continued his association with the College for the past 30 years and is currently a member of the Plattsburgh College Foundation Real Estate Board, member of the Capital Campaign Central Steering Committee and Chair of the Clinton County Campaign Committee.
Barie is married to Christine Racine, a 1979 Plattsburgh State graduate.
