Bike Rental Program

This program allows SUNY Plattsburgh students to borrow a bike for a day, free of charge. Bikes may be used for personal transportation or recreation. Bike trails are located on campus behind the Field House.

Bike Issue

  • August 29 – October 7, 2022 & April 3 – May 12, 2023 (weather permitting) — Visit the recreation desk on the second floor of Memorial Hall starting at noon to be issued a bike, lock, and helmet. Bikes must be returned by 10 p.m. weekdays and 5 p.m. weekends on the same day issued.
  • Summer — Bikes are issued on a weekly basis. Contact Melissa LaMere at [email protected] for more information.

What Equipment Do We Have?

The recreation department has created a bike storage room on the second floor of Memorial Hall complete with bike racks and size charts. Our fleet currently contains:

  • mountain bikes
  • single-speed cruisers
  • locks
  • helmets

The bike program issues bicycles of varying sizes (extra small, small, medium and large), according to the student’s height. A bike lock with a set code will be given upon bike issue. The option of borrowing a helmet is available, but not required.

Bikes are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Who is Eligible?

Currently enrolled full-time undergraduate and graduate students at SUNY Plattsburgh. This program is not open to the general public.

How Do I Get a Bike?

It’s easy! Just visit the recreation desk on the second floor of Memorial Hall and ask the staff to help you. There are no requirements, besides a valid college ID card.

Return Policy

For fall and spring, bikes must be returned on the same the day that you receive the bike. During the summer, students issued bikes must check in with the recreation director weekly for a status update.

Students are responsible for any damage while the bike is in their care. Fees will be charged if damage exists above normal wear and tear.
