Open House Bus Trips for Accepted Students
The Accepted Student Bus Trips are open to accepted students only
Spring 2025 bus trips will be held Friday, April 25 to Saturday, April 26.
Accepted students participating in the bus trip will have the opportunity to:
- Attend on-campus social events Friday evening
- Eat a complementary dinner and breakfast in our dining facilities
- Stay overnight in the residence halls with a currently enrolled students
- Participate in Spring Open House on Saturday

Departure to Plattsburgh
A chaperoned charter bus will leave for SUNY Plattsburgh from the following locations at the following times. Students are responsible for transportation to and from the pick-up/drop-off location. Please be sure to arrange a ride.
- Long Island at 8 a.m. (Hyatt Regency, Hauppauge, N.Y.)
- New York City at 8 a.m. (33 W 42nd St., New York, N.Y.)
- Hudson Valley at 10 a.m.(Woodbury Centre, Central Valley, N.Y.) *Near Kohl’s
- Capital District at Noon (Colonie Center Mall, Albany, N.Y.) *Near Whole Foods
Return Trips
A chaperoned charter bus will return to the following locations at the following times:
- Capital District around 3 p.m. (Colonie Center Mall, Albany, N.Y.) *Near Whole Foods
- Hudson Valley around 5 p.m.(Woodbury Centre, Central Valley, N.Y.) *Near Kohl’s
- NYC around 6:30 p.m. (33 W 42nd St., New York, N.Y.)
- Long Island around 8 p.m. (Hyatt Regency in Hauppauge, N.Y.)
Students are responsible for transportation to and from the pick-up/drop-off location. Please be sure to arrange a ride.
- Schedule of Events
Day One: Friday Time Event 2:30–3 p.m. Arrival to campus 3–4:30 p.m. Welcome, Explore, and Connect!
Start your visit with opening remarks, embark on a guided campus tour, and meet your overnight student host who will give you an inside look at campus life.
Reminder: Accepted students should bring their own sleeping materials for the overnight stay.
5–7 p.m. Enjoy a Complimentary Dinner & Free Time!
Share a meal on campus with your overnight host and take some time to explore, relax, or connect with fellow accepted students.
7–11 p.m. Evening Social Events with Your Overnight Host!
Spend the evening connecting with your host and fellow accepted students through fun social events and activities on campus. It’s a great chance to experience campus life firsthand!
Note: All students participating in the bus trip will be hosted overnight by a current student in the residence halls. Accepted students should plan to bring their own sleeping materials (pillow, blanket, sleeping bag, etc.) for a comfortable stay, as these items will not be provided.
Day Two: Saturday Time Event 9–10 a.m. Luggage Drop-Off & Breakfast
Begin your day by dropping off your luggage at The Nest, then enjoy a delicious breakfast on campus with your overnight host before the day’s events kick off!
10 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Experience Spring Open House!
Join us for Spring Open House and explore everything our campus has to offer.

Enjoy a delicious lunch from a local pizza place before departing from SUNY Plattsburgh.
- FAQs
What should I pack for the Accepted Student Bus Trip? Pack comfortable clothing, toiletries, pillow, blankets or a sleeping bag, etc. Don’t forget chargers for your devices, a water bottle, and any important documents or contact information. An air mattress will be provided.
What activities will I be participating in? Programming will include campus tours, information sessions, meetings with current students, attending club meetings, eating in the dining facilities, and an overnight stay in a residence hall to get a feel for campus life.
How can I make the most out of my trip? Engage with current students and ask questions about their experiences. Attend the information sessions outlined at open house.
What’s the schedule? Please see the above accordion titled ‘Schedule of Events.’
Who will be my host? You will be paired with a currently enrolled SUNY Plattsburgh student who lives within the residence halls. Do you have a friend or relative at SUNY Plattsburgh who lives on campus and would like to host you? Great — let us know, and we will arrange for that individual to be your host!
What if I have dietary restrictions or allergies? Let us know about your dietary restrictions or allergies in advance. We will be more than happy to make accommodations.
Can I bring my parents or guardians on the bus trip? The event is for accepted students only. Parents or guardians are welcome to join you at the Open house on Saturday, April 26. Transportation to and from the event is not provided to parents or guardians.
What if I forget something? No worries — let your host, a community advocate (CA) or a SUNY Plattsburgh professional know, and we can assist you.
Can I leave campus? All participants will be required to sign and date a student consent form indicating that they will comply with all rules and regulations set forth by the admissions office. While on campus, you will be held to the same standards and code of conduct as an enrolled student and assume sole responsibility for your actions. Participants are required to remain on campus at all times, even in the presence of a SUNY Plattsburgh host. Participants can only leave campus if accompanied by a SUNY Plattsburgh professional staff member.
What if I become ill? If you are to become ill on the way to SUNY Plattsburgh or during your stay, which warrants your inability to participate in the program, you will be responsible for providing your own transportation home.
Do I need to bring any money or food? No, we have you covered. Participating students will receive a box lunch on the bus on Friday afternoon. Once you arrive on campus, you will receive two meal tickets: one for dinner and one for lunch. These meal tickets will allow you to eat in our dining facilities.
How old do you have to be to participate? Accepted students who are 17 years of age at the time of the event are allowed to participate. This event follows the rules and guidelines of the Child Protection Policy.
