SUNY Plattsburgh’s campus is only a short walk away from downtown Plattsburgh, once a headquarters for the American army during the War of 1812. This retro-style city preserves the historic qualities of Plattsburgh while serving as the focal point of night-life and entertainment for our students.

Much like downtown, uptown Plattsburgh is saturated with stores and restaurants; uptown, however, offers far more commercialized options. You can find several chain restaurants, food and clothing stores and even a shopping mall.

International Student Activities

SUNY Plattsburgh is home to over 100 active clubs and organizations. Many of these, like Club International, the Korean Association, and V-Nation (Vietnam), are dedicated to celebrating the rich, authentic cultures represented by our student body. We also offer excursions around the region, and Partners In Cross Cultural Learning (PICL), a unique friendship program, will pair you with a local American family for cultural exchange.
