Kelsey Carroll, MSN, CBD, C-EFM, RN
Assistant Professor of Nursing
As a nurse educator, clinician, and lifelong advocate for health equity, Kelsey is passionate about preparing the next generation of nurses to provide knowledgeable, compassionate and inclusive care. She joined the SUNY Plattsburgh faculty in 2026, first as adjunct faculty teaching obstetric clinical rotations, then as full-time faculty. Her clinical experience in labor and delivery, postpartum care and public health informs her teaching and allows her to connect classroom concepts to providing real life patient care.
Academic Philosophy
My teaching philosophy is grounded in the belief that nursing education should prepare students not only to provide safe, evidence-based care, but also to think critically, ask questions and advocate for their patients. I strive to create an inclusive, supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable engaging with complex topics, learning from mistakes and developing confidence in their clinical judgment. I use experiential learning, simulation, discussion and real-world clinical examples to help students bridge the gap between theory and practice.
I am particularly passionate about health equity, reproductive and sexual health, and inclusive care. My goal as an educator is to empower learners with the knowledge, skills and curiosity they need to provide thoughtful, compassionate and evidence-based care to every patient.
