Third Age Adult Day Center

Welcome to Third Age!

About Us

Third Age is a specialized program for persons with dementia and/or memory loss of the Alzheimer’s type. Third Age also provides services to physically frail elders or aging individuals who require assistance with activities of daily living. Generally, our participants are over the age of 55 who need supervision and/or assistance in order to perform activities of daily living due to dementia and/or memory loss or physical frailty.

As a social adult day program and a member of New York State Social Adult Day Services Association, our services are based on the philosophy that each individual has a need and capacity for socialization which does not diminish with age; that socialization helps prevent depression, loneliness and premature institutionalization; and that supportive services in a caring environment can enable people with functional impairments to live their lives more fully.

Third Age is appropriate for families who want their loved one to remain at home but are in need of assistance in providing for their care. No one shall be denied participation on the basis of race, color, creed, disability, gender, sexual orientation, marital status or national origin.

Third Age is also a provider of Structured Day Program Services through the Nursing Home Transition and Diversion Medicaid Waiver Program and the Group Day Habilitation Services through affiliation with the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities. We are located in Sibley Hall, Room 320G, on the campus of SUNY Plattsburgh. The program has been serving senior adults and their families since 1990.
