What Will I Learn?
Social work is the profession on the front lines of immigration, human rights and international social policy. This certificate will prepare you to work with a diverse population within the United States and abroad.
- Learn to define, understand and analyze the fundamental inequalities — poverty, ill-health, environmental degradation, lack of social care and human rights violations — that are the root causes for the most critical problems facing humanity.
- Understand the complex international and multicultural experiences required to effectively serve the needs of various communities.
- Partner with community-based organizations on a project to address a pressing social development issue or need.

This global social action certificate is the first of its kind in the SUNY system and one of only a handful available in the country. The certificate is based in action and will allow you to practice your skills from home and in an international context in the quest for meaningful social justice and change.
