Committee for Environmental Responsibility
SUNY Plattsburgh is committed to sustainability. As a university, we believe that we must strive to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
The Campus Committee for Environmental Responsibility (CCER), established in 2008, works towards this goal. Our members include faculty, non-teaching professionals, staff and students and we meet throughout the academic year to discuss the college’s ecological footprint.
You Can Help Make a Difference
SUNY Plattsburgh cares about our planet, and we act locally to keep the college as green as we can.
Green Grants
One of the ways that SUNY Plattsburgh advances its journey to sustainability is through student action. All students contribute to the Green Grant program through student fees ($3/student, collected at registration). The funds collected through this fee are returned to students through grants for implementing sustainability projects on campus.
Examples of Green Grant projects implemented by students include the Biketopia program, which provides students with free bikes and teaches students to repair their bikes; the campus garden, which provides food to dining services and regional food banks; numerous guest speakers; Earth Day activities, and more!
If you are interested in applying for the Green Grant, please fill out the Green Grant Application Form below. Applicants may also contact Curt Gervich, CCER chair, at [email protected] in order to receive consultation on the best way to proceed. Once your application is received you will be invited to provide a short presentation to the CCER, and a determination on the feasibility of the project will be made. Once you receive funding you will work with campus staff, faculty and students to implement your idea.
