Winter Session Registration Through Dec. 30

PLATTSBURGH, NY __ A few college credits short? Want to learn a new skill but don't have much time? Looking for something to do in January? There's still time to sign up for Winter Session at the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh. Registration continues until Friday, Dec. 30.

SUNY Plattsburgh is one of the largest providers of Winter Session courses among all SUNY schools. Winter Session began in 2000 with eight course offerings and has successfully expanded the number of offerings to nearly 50 this year.

Last year, more than 500 students enrolled in Winter Session. The increasing demand has prompted a greater variety of courses to be offered, including general education courses, online courses, experiential courses that take students outside of the classroom, and courses that allow students to make progress toward their degree. More and more, students have become aware of Winter Session and are taking advantage of the opportunity to graduate early or on time.

Students may want to reduce their course load, increase their grade point average, or take a unique course. Winter Session is a convenient time to take courses, and students enjoy having more time to concentrate on one course.

This year, a five-week online session has been implemented to allow faculty to develop and offer more online courses. As a result, 17 online courses will be offered, making it even more convenient for students to take a winter session course.

The five-week session will also allow students the option of taking up to six credits during Winter Session while the shorter two- and three-week course sessions allow a maximum of three or four credits, respectively.

Although some course dates may vary, the online session will run from Dec. 19 - Jan. 20, 2006, and the on-campus session will be Jan. 2 - 20, 2006. For more information, visit www.plattsburgh.edu/academics/winter/ or call the Registrar's Office at 518-564-2100.
