Update on Myers Fine Arts: Building Remains Closed
SUNY Plattsburgh's Myers Fine Arts Building remains closed while construction work on its high-temperature, hot water lines is completed. At the start of the day Thursday, March 17, the work was about 75 percent done.
Once the construction is finished, inspections will be made to verify that the space is safe before the building is reopened.
College officials closed the building Monday when an employee reported smelling fumes. After an investigation, officials have determined that the cause may have been associated with the insulation system for the building’s high-temperature, hot water lines. Once workers from an outside firm make the repairs and air safety is verified, the building will open again.
College faculty and staff who need to enter the building may do so between 9 and 11 a.m. on Thursday, but they must first contact Michael Caraballo, SUNY Plattsburgh’s emergency management director at 518-564-4950.
Employees who need to make alternative work arrangements are asked to do so in consultation
with their supervisor and Human Resource Services.
