SUNY Plattsburgh Welcomes Three New University Police Officers
Three university police officers graduated from Zone 9 Basic Police Academy Friday at a ceremony held in the Rotunda of City Hall in Plattsburgh.
A reception for Jared Booth, Joshua Coons and Ashley Feldt and their families and guests was held at the home of SUNY Plattsburgh President John Ettling and his wife, Lisa Lewis.
Booth, a Paul Smith’s College graduate from Morrisonville, N.Y., started with the University Police Oct. 27, 2014. He earned the Overall Achievement Award from the academy.
Coons, a SUNY Plattsburgh alum and winner of the 2011 Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence, is from Ellenburg Depot, N.Y., and started with UP Sept. 23, 2014. He earned the academy’s Highest Academic Achievement Award.
Feldt, a Siena College graduate from Ogdensburg, N.Y., started with UP Oct. 23, 2014. All three officers began their training at the academy Nov. 3.
In addition to family and friends, the officers were feted by SUNY Plattsburgh Vice President for Student Affairs Bryan Hartman, Chief of University Police Arlene Sabo, Assistant Chief of University Police Jerry Lottie, and Ron Santor, Zone 9 Police Academy director, among other guests.
Friday’s graduation brings to 10 the number of officers on campus.
