SUNY Plattsburgh Graduate Student Wins Scholarship to Attend Seminar

PLATTSBURGH, NY __ Harrison Sindima, a full-time graduate student at the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh, is one of 20 students nationwide to receive a full Direct Marketing Education Foundation (DMEF) scholarship to attend the DMEF Graduate Seminar in Direct Marketing in New York City from Feb. 8-10.

The three day seminar will include presentations from leading professionals in direct marketing as well as materials from outstanding companies in the field.  Direct marketing is a specialized area of marketing that has grown dramatically over the past 25 years, and it was responsible for $1.93 trillion in sales in 2006.

Dr. Nancy J. Church, distinguished service professor and chair of marketing and entrepreneurship, nominated Sindima for this scholarship.

"It has been my pleasure to teach Harrison in undergraduate as well as graduate classes in marketing.  I believe he will enjoy, contribute and derive full benefit from this exceptional seminar," said Church.

Sindima, a graduate student from Malawi, Africa, holds a part-time position in the International Student Services office at the College.

The Direct Marketing Education Foundation is a nonprofit educational foundation whose mission it is to increase and improve the teaching of direct and interactive marketing at colleges and universities, attract new talent to the field, provide career guidance and information and bring the excitement of the industry to the classroom.
