SUNY Plattsburgh Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa Recognized

The SUNY Plattsburgh Circle Omicron Delta Kappa was granted superior circle status from the national ODK organization.

This award is presented to ODK chapters that meet all Circle of Distinction criteria and that sponsor at least two substantial campuswide programs, said Michael Cashman, assistant director of the Center for Student Involvement and faculty secretary of the Plattsburgh ODK chapter.

“Our circle is very active sponsoring a number of programs,” Cashman said. “This continues the organization’s legacy of leading at the national level.”

Some of the campuswide programs cited include the annual 9/11 memorial ceremony, a presidents’ welcome reception during Family Weekend, ODK alumni breakfast during Homecoming, Skunk Day to raise funds for circle activities, and the student recognition awards ceremony for students involved in Project H.E.L.P.

SUNY Plattsburgh’s chapter was chartered May 2, 1981, and has inducted more than 3,000 members. Plattsburgh is one of 13 SUNY schools to be granted a charter by the leadership society. As a group, the SUNY Plattsburgh Circle ODK has so far contributed $83,000 to the Plattsburgh College Foundation.
