Saranac Review Literary Journal Feted as it Enters Second Decade
The SUNY Plattsburgh Department of English will host a launch party for its annual literary journal, The Saranac Review, Friday, Oct. 23 at 5:30 p.m. at the Strand Center for the Arts, 23 Brinkerhoff St., Plattsburgh.
The launch welcomes the 11th issue, which features fiction, non-fiction and poetry writers from this region and various parts of the world, including Canada, said Dr. Jose Torres, executive editor and professor English.
“This is an exciting launch because it represents the start of Saranac Review’s second decade.”
The evening will include readings by contributors Melissa Cronin and Colby Cedar Smith. Refreshments will be served and the current issue as well as back issues and other Saranac Review merchandise will be available for purchase.
Although the event is free and open to the public, donations are accepted to support the journal.
“Individuals and companies that believe in the importance of the literary arts in American society are encouraged to donate,” said Wendy Truong, administrative assistant in the department. “All donations will support the writing arts program at SUNY Plattsburgh and help cover the various costs incurred in publishing this quality literary journal. We hope to continue our work as a literary space available for the highest quality writings for many more decades.”
