Rugar Street Traffic for Move-In Day
PLATTSBURGH, NY (August 23, 2007) - On Saturday, August 25, motorists will be able to travel Rugar Street only in a westerly direction for much of the day to accommodate new and returning students moving into their residence halls at the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh. The one-way traffic pattern will alleviate some of the traffic along the roadway and protects students and their families as they move their belongings into their residence hall rooms.
From 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, vehicular traffic along Rugar Street between Memorial Hall and Sanborn Avenue Extension will be one-way only toward the Plattsburgh Senior High School. Also, vehicular traffic on Sanborn Avenue Extension directly behind the College will be one-way only from Rugar Street to Park Street.
Motorists traveling in an easterly direction along Rugar Street (toward Lake Champlain) will find the street closed at the intersection with Sanborn Avenue Extension. They will be diverted along Sanborn to Park Street, Draper Avenue and then onto Broad Street. Rugar Street may be congested at times on Saturday, and motorists are advised to seek alternate routes around Plattsburgh State that day. Classes officially begin at SUNY Plattsburgh on Monday, Aug. 27.
