Rotaract Club Sponsors Neighborhood Leaf Raking for Charity

The SUNY Plattsburgh chapter of Rotaract, a Rotary-sponsored student service club, will be asking for donations as club members clean up leaves in residential neighborhoods surrounding the college campus from 1 to 5 p.m. Nov. 9-11.

Donations from the raking project will go to support Rotaract and Rotary projects including an effort to eradicate polio around the world. In addition, Rotaract is collaborating with Center for Women's Concerns to raise money for Camp Dartmouth-Hitchcock, in support of the camp’s work with children who suffer from arthritis.

Through this kind of community service, club members try “to bridge the gap between the campus community and the community at large. It also helps the community to come together and to make changes for the better,” according to Annagrace Nderimo, Rotaract Club president.

Nderimo said she urges the entire campus community, including students, faculty and staff, to participate throughout the weekend.
