Plattsburgh State Fraternities and Sororities to Host Fundraiser for St. Jude's Hospital

PLATTSBURGH, NY __ Fraternities and sororities at the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh will host "Up 'Til Dawn" on Saturday, Nov. 19 from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. in the Field House as part of their seventh annual "A Week to GIVE (Greeks Interacting and Volunteering Everyday)" celebrations.

"Up 'Til Dawn" is a student-led, student-run program hosted by colleges and universities nationwide to support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Many local children and doctors benefit from the research and treatment programs at St. Jude. The event at SUNY Plattsburgh is being coordinated by the Greek organizations.

"Up 'Til Dawn" is a letter-writing campaign that occurs on a night of fun-filled activities, music, food and entertainment. Teams of students, faculty and administration will address at least 50 letters each to friends and family asking them to make a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Throughout the night, contests will be held for participants, giving them a chance to receive prizes including gift certificates from several area businesses.

SUNY Plattsburgh athletic teams, fraternities and sororities, multicultural organizations, residence hall councils, student association clubs and organizations and other student groups have already signed up to participate.

"We are very excited about 'Up 'Til Dawn.' This is a great night in which students, faculty and staff can all come together for a great cause. Our goal is to raise more than $17,000 for St. Jude's," said Krista Wind, a senior criminal justice major from Thornwood, N.Y., and a member of the Inter-Sorority Association.
