Laundry to Continue as Interim Vice President for Student Affairs

PLATTSBURGH, NY __ William Laundry, interim vice president for student affairs and enrollment management at the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh, will continue in his current position for the next academic year. The announcement was made by Dr. John Ettling, incoming president of Plattsburgh State.

Ettling said, "Bill Laundry took over the role as interim vice president in September 2003 and has done a marvelous job overseeing this important division. I asked him to continue in his present assignment through June 2005. Bill's continued leadership in student affairs will afford me the opportunity to settle in to my new position and to evaluate the many needs of the campus and direction for the coming years."

A search for a permanent vice president would commence during the next academic year. Laundry, who served as dean of students for seven years, said he was pleased to be asked to continue as interim vice president.

"Dr. Ettling will have many things to consider when he arrives on campus June 15," said Laundry. "I want to assist him in any way I can to help him transition into his new role as president of Plattsburgh State."

Laundry came to Plattsburgh State in 1969 as director of housing. He was promoted to director of residence life in 1976 and then director of campus life in 1980. He served as dean of students from 1996 to 2003 and was promoted to associate vice president for student affairs June 30 of last year.

Laundry is involved in many college-wide committees and community organizations. He holds a bachelor's and a master's degree from SUNY Albany.
