Knapp North Country Scholarship Awarded to NCCS Graduate

A history major from Mooers Forks, N.Y., who is enrolled in the Master’s in Science in Teaching program has been chosen as the recipient of the 2012 Knapp North Country Scholarship.

Dylan Brassard, a graduate of Northeastern Clinton Central School in Champlain, N.Y., will receive $2,500 from the scholarship, awarded annually to academically gifted NCCS seniors admitted to SUNY Plattsburgh.

The award was named after the late Edith and Kenneth Knapp. Edith was the executive vice president of the Champlain Telephone Company and a benefactor to many residents of the Champlain region. At 18, Kenneth was the youngest mayor of Mooers, N.Y., and also served on the SUNY Plattsburgh College Council.

Anne Hansen, vice president for institutional advancement at SUNY Plattsburgh, said scholarships such as the Knapp North Country Scholarship make a difference in the lives of North Country graduates.

“We, at SUNY Plattsburgh, are grateful to the Champlain Telephone Company and relatives of Edith and Kenneth Knapp for their continued generosity,” Hansen said.

Additional gifts may be made to the scholarship endowment at any time. For more information, contact the Plattsburgh College Foundation at 518-564-2090.
