Kiplinger's Rates SUNY Plattsburgh

PLATTSBURGH, NY (January 8, 2008)The State University of New York College at Plattsburgh has been ranked by Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine for being among the best values for public campuses in the nation.

For in-state students, SUNY Plattsburgh ranked 97th out of 100 institutions that made the cut. "Schools that top Kiplinger's 100 Best Values in Public Colleges are noteworthy for their combination of top-flight academics and affordable costs," according to the publication. For out-of-state students, SUNY Plattsburgh came in 79th.

The criteria used to rank the campuses are academic quality, cost, and financial aid. The top 100 campuses were selected from a pool of more than 500 public four-year colleges and universities.

"We are pleased that a respected publication like Kiplinger's recognizes our efforts," said College President John Ettling. "It validates what we have been saying for some time, that students and families who are looking for a top-notch academic experience at a reasonable cost will find SUNY Plattsburgh a good fit.

"Affordability is an issue that we take seriously, and we work hard to keep our costs in line while ensuring a high quality experience," Ettling continued. "Our faculty should be commended as well; thanks to their work in the classroom and in the field, our students can count on a rigorous and meaningful educational experience that prepares them for the challenges of career, service and civic engagement."
