International Student Education Takes Center Stage Nov. 14-19


International Student Services at SUNY Plattsburgh is gearing up for a week full of activities in celebration of International Education Week, beginning Monday, Nov. 14, with a Model United Nations debate at 7 p.m. in Room 103F of Feinberg Library.

Club International will sponsor an international dance workshop at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, in the Sibley Gym, and on Wednesday, Nov. 16, a Ukrainian-themed lunch and chef’s table will be available to all at Clinton Dining hall beginning at 11:30 a.m.

An international-themed dinner will be held Thursday night beginning at 5:15 p.m. at Samuel D’s in Sibley Hall. Cost is $15. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 518-564-4264 or by stopping by Room 403B, Sibley Hall.

A presentation, “Made in Pakistan,” will be held Friday, Nov. 18, beginning at 5 p.m. in Meeting Room 1 of the Angell College Center. At 6 p.m. that same evening a presentation and trivia contest on famous Chinese landmarks will be held in Room 209, Yokum Lecture Hall.

International Education Week culminates Saturday, Nov. 19, with the annual “Night of Nations” cultural showcase, which begins at 7 p.m. — doors open at 6:30 p.m. — in the E. Glenn Giltz Auditorium, Hawkins Hall. Close to a dozen acts will be featured as performers don authentic dress and perform music, dance and other forms of international entertainment.

With the exception of dinner at Samuel D’s and lunch at Clinton Dining all, all events are free. All are open to the public. For more information, call International Student Services at 518-564-3287.
