‘Instant Decision Days’ Make Transferring from Community College Easier
Community college students at four schools in Northern New York can find out within
a half an hour if their applications are complete for transfer to SUNY Plattsburgh
during the Office of
Admissions Instant Decision Days.
With more than half of the college’s transfer students hailing from Clinton, North Country, Hudson Valley and SUNY Adirondack community colleges, Instant Decision Days make it easier to apply and lessens the stress associated with the more conventional waiting period after application is made.
SUNY Plattsburgh has partnered with the community colleges to reduce barriers to enrollment by giving potential transfer students direct access to advisers who review applications and complete credit evaluations on the spot at the community college.
Questions such as “What do I need to complete my application?” “Are all my credits transferrable?” and “How long will it take to finish my degree with what I’ve already earned?” will be answered and more within the 20-minute appointments made throughout the Instant Decision Day at each site.
Through this collaboration, the community colleges promote the program on their campuses. Students register online, and members of SUNY Plattsburgh’s admissions office reach out ahead of time to make sure they’ve submitted everything they’ll need to deliver a decision during the event.
Held every year in the spring, upcoming Instant Decision Days for the four colleges are:
- Clinton Community College: Feb. 25, March 24 and April 21, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- SUNY Adirondack: Feb. 26, March 25 and April 22 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Hudson Valley Community College: Feb. 27, March 26 and April 23, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- North Country Community College: April 8 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Saranac Lake Campus; 1-3 p.m. April 8 at the Malone Campus
