Guest Chef from Colombia Visits Campus
PLATTSBURGH, NY __ Sodexho Campus Services recently hosted a special guest in its
kitchens. Joaquin Suarez, from Bogota, Colombia, came to the State University of New
York College at Plattsburgh as part of Sodexho's Global Chef Program.
Suarez has 11 years of hotel and restaurant management and chef experience and is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and New York University. He is the national training chef for Sodexho Colombia, providing culinary culture through theoretical and practical training workshops.
The Global Chef Program was created to bring executive chefs from Sodexho's affiliates around the world to campuses in the United States. The Global Chef shares authentic international cuisine and traditional cooking techniques with students, faculty, staff and the on-site culinary team.
While on campus, Suarez prepared meals in the Sundowner and Clinton Dining Hall as well as participated in a hotel, restaurant and tourism management class.
He also visited several other campuses in the Northeast during his tour, including the University of Vermont and Paul Smith's College.
