Gresnick is New Assistant Director of Student Activities


PLATTSBURGH, NY __ Trisha Ann Gresnick has been named the new assistant director of student activities at the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh.

Trisha Ann Gresnick When Gresnick starts in her new position on July 18, she will be responsible for planning campus-wide programs that increase faculty-student interaction, weekend night programming and off-campus excursions. She will also serve as advisor to the Student Association's Activities Coordination Board and provide guidance and support for multi-cultural programming.

"I was drawn to the assistant director of student activities position because of the variety of opportunities to encompasses," said Gresnick.

Gresnick comes to SUNY Plattsburgh from the University of Kansas where she worked as the program advisor for the Student Union. Originally from Baldwin City, Kan., she received her undergraduate degree in communication in 2001 and a master's degree in counseling education and student personnel in 2004 from Emporia State University.

Gresnick said she was attracted to SUNY Plattsburgh because of its size and what others who work here had to say about the College.

"SUNY Plattsburgh has the options of a larger institutions, but it also has that comfortable feeling that you can get on a small campus," she said. "After I visited the campus, my interest was heightened because everyone was very inviting and encouraging, and I really felt a sense of community from people who truly believe in the importance of student development."

Gresnick said she is excited about the position, and that she has several goals she hopes to accomplish during her time here.

"I want to learn as much as I possibly can about student activities, campus life and the community of Plattsburgh," said Gresnick. "I hope to assess what is important to students, faculty and staff and to be able to offer programs that will enhance students' learning."
