Game on for Giving Campaign to Benefit Cardinal Athletics

SUNY Plattsburgh has launched its second-annual Game on for Giving campaign to benefit Cardinal Athletics.

As part of the campaign, Cardinal athletic teams are competing against each other to see which can rally the most donors by midnight Wednesday, Feb. 14. The winning team will take possession of the Cardinal Cup trophy.

Cardinal fans are being asked to show support by making a tax-deductible donation to their favorite team this Valentine’s Day.

“Ultimately, the donors decide who wins this competition because it’s all about their participation,” said Paula Bachman, associate director of annual giving at SUNY Plattsburgh. “But what’s especially exciting is that even teams with fewer donors will still benefit greatly from the donations they receive. So nobody loses.”

Gifts Support Initiatives

Gifts, which can also be made in advance, provide additional funding for program expenses related to equipment, recruitment, travel, facility maintenance and initiatives for student athletes.

“The generosity of our loyal fans is what allows the Cardinals to win both on and off the playing field,” said Director of Athletics Mike Howard.

In addition to giving to any of the 18 Cardinal varsity teams, donors may designate gifts to the fitness center, recreational sports, athletic hall of fame, athletic training, athletic communications or the Cardinal athletics general fund. They may also choose to divide their support among multiple recipients.
