DEI Event Strives to Foster Community, Campus Bond
SUNY Plattsburgh’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion office will host CommUNITY Night at the Pond Friday, Sept. 23 beginning at 6 p.m. at Hawkins Pond.
According to Travis Gorham, the event includes performances by dance teams Spicy Island Tings, Jedi Dance Productions and the Plattsburgh State Gospel Choir. Food trucks and Chartwells will have food services available for purchase.
Games and activities are planned for the two-hour event in addition to opportunities for community members to meet and mingle with students, faculty and staff. Started seven years ago as a way to promote unity between campus and community, it also serves as a way to call attention to the contributions both offer to one another.
The event is open to all. For more information, contact Travis Gorham, multicultural student success coach in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, at 518-564-5418 or email [email protected].
