College Auxiliary Services Re-brands Conference Center to the Valcour Inn and Boathouse

The Valcour Conference Center on Route 9 south on the shores of Lake Champlain is now known as the Valcour Inn and Boathouse.

Owned and operated by College Auxiliary Services, the facility sits on nearly 10 acres and has impressive views of Valcour and Gunboat islands and Vermont and comprises a main house with nine guest bedrooms and a boathouse, both of which can be used for functions such as wedding ceremonies, receptions, family reunions and more.

Chris Whalen, director of properties and marketing, said calling the facility a “conference center” did a disservice to the location and gave the impression that they have amenities you might find in a more urban setting.

“We do have a list of equipment and Wi-Fi available, but changing the name to Valcour Inn and Boathouse describe the property much more accurately,” Whalen said. “We gave Valcour’s Main House a more nostalgic rural image that is best suited for its style and use: small business events, social events, wedding ceremonies and receptions and overnight accommodations.

“Adding Boathouse to the name indicates is proximity to water and its rustic style,” she said. “We love our new name and, from our customers’ reactions, they love it, too.”

New signs at the entrance on Route 9, the site’s Web page, Facebook page, email and other literature all reflect the change. The facility is open to the public and a SUNY Plattsburgh affiliation is no longer required. For more information, visit www.valcourinn.com.
