Campus/City Coalition Strives to Build Relationships Through Events
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (Sept. 14, 2010) – With the start of the new school year, the Campus/City Coalition is already working to create positive connections between SUNY Plattsburgh students and their neighbors.
“We are hoping to help everyone start the year out in the right way,” said Nick Lavigne, Campus/City Coalition coordinator. “Helping students get to know their neighbors and the importance of playing a positive role in the community can go a long way toward a successful year.”
Toward that end, fraternities and sororities working with the coalition will host
a Meet Your Neighbors night from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15. This family-friendly
event will feature refreshments, activities for children and entertainment. It will
take place at four locations in Plattsburgh: 169 Cornelia St., 48 Broad St., 62 Couch
St. and 122 Court St.
In addition, the coalition will sponsor a curb-appeal contest in an effort to encourage college students to enhance the visual appeal of their homes – both inside and out.
The Campus/City Coalition is affiliated the Plattsburgh Campus and Community Partnership, a group open to all campus and community members. It strives to create a positive, collaborative change.
