Annual Springfest Features O.A.R. and Rahzel

PLATTSBURGH, NY __ The sound of music will waft through the air on Saturday, May 1 thanks to the annual Springfest celebration at the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh. Sponsored by the Student Association, this year's Springfest will feature musical headliners O.A.R. and Rahzel at the Field House lacrosse field.

Springfest will kick off with local bands and DJs at 1 p.m., building up to Rahzel who will take the stage at 7 p.m.

According to his label, MCA Records, Rahzel is "the undisputed Godfather of Noyze" who has re-defined the beat box. A self-defined vocal percussionist, Rahzel has "mastered this quintessential hip hop art form and has emerged as a true virtuoso. To hear him is to be converted."  Rahzel is best known as a member of The Roots, hip-hop's cutting-edge live band.

Following Rahzel, the Ohio-originated reggae and roots-rock jam band, O.A.R, will perform.

The New York Post calls the group's album, In Between Now and Then, "a jammin' album that flirts with melodic, reggae-laced rock that oils your dancing bone."

Come June, O.A.R. will perform in six concerts throughout the Midwest with the Dave Matthews Band.

Tickets for Springfest are $5 for SA members and $15 for all others and are available at the Angell College Center Information Desk and Peacock's Music, 53 Smithfield Blvd., Plattsburgh.

Sodexho Campus Services will provide food. Students with a meal plan can use their card.

In the event of inclement weather, the concert will move inside to the Field House Gymnasium.
