1970 Kent, Jackson State University Shootings Remembered at Annual Ceremony
The SUNY Plattsburgh Student Association will host the 47th annual commemorative ceremony honoring Kent and Jackson State students killed during protests in 1970 on Friday, May 5 beginning at 12:15 p.m. on the front lawn of Kehoe Administration Building.
The Kent State shootings took place at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, Monday, May 4, 1970 when National Guardsmen fired 67 rounds over a period of 13 seconds at students who were protesting Richard Nixon’s announcement of the campaign in Cambodia. Four students were killed; nine were wounded.
