Works by Poet Wallace Stevens to be Discussed
The Department of English and the literary magazine, “Saranac Review,” will present a reading and lecture on poet Wallace Stevens by adjunct lecturer Richard Aberle Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. in the Champlain Valley Hall Commons.
Aberle, who received the 2011-2012 Teaching Excellence Award for Adjunct Faculty and Lecturers, and the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Adjunct Teaching in 2016, will discuss the works of American Modernist poet Wallace in his Ph.D. dissertation, “Underwriting: The Poetry of Wallace Stevens in the Age of Insurance,” which delves into the role of insurance in shaping the modernist world view reflected in Stevens’ poetry.
The event is free and open to the public.
