Women's Hockey National Championship Celebration Set
The SUNY Plattsburgh women's hockey team's national championship will be celebrated by the campus and area communities at a special event set for Tuesday, April 5 at 6 p.m. in the Stafford Ice Arena.
Tickets for the event are $5 per person. SUNY Plattsburgh students with a valid ID and children 12 and under are free. Tickets will go on sale at 5:30 p.m. that evening at the Field House Box Office. All fans in attendance will receive a commemorative championship team photo.
The team won its third straight national championship earlier this month with a 5-1 win over Wisconsin-River Falls in the NCAA Division III title game. It is the program's fifth national championship.
The event will feature a formal program celebrating the Cardinals' accomplishments during the 2015-2016 season. Following the program, team members will be available for autographs, photo opportunities and an open skate. Skate rentals will be provided at $2 per person or $1 for faculty, staff and college students with a valid ID.
As a part of the celebration, attendees will have the opportunity to take part in a number of raffles and bid on a variety of auction items. All proceeds from the event will be put toward the cost of national championship rings for the team.
