Women's Hockey Named Preseason Favorite in ECAC West Coaches' Poll
CAPE COD, Mass. (Oct. 22, 2010) – The Plattsburgh women’s hockey team received 97
points, including eight first-place votes, to take the top spot on the Eastern College
Athletic Conference Women’s West coaches’ preseason poll for the 2010-2011 season.
The Cardinals finished last season 23-3-2 overall, including 17-0-1 in league play. Last year’s squad finished third in the NCAA Division III rankings and made their seventh consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament. Plattsburgh returns their top two leading scorers from last season in senior forward Steph Moon who recorded 8 goals ad 27 assists for 35 points and senior forward Megan DiJulio with 23 goals and 11 assists for 34 points.
Plattsburgh will host an exhibition game against the Southwest Wildcats on October
31 at 10 am. The Cardinals officially kick off their 2010-2011 campaign Nov. 6 against
Salve Regina at 3 p.m. at the Stafford Ice Arena.
Rochester Institute of Technology finished second with a total of 89 points and two
first-place votes. Defending conference champion Elmira grabbed the third spot with
83 points.
The rest of the poll included: 4. Utica; 5. Neumann; 6. Oswego; 7. Potsdam; 8. Buffalo
State; 9. Cortland; and 10. Chatham.
