Women’s Basketball to Host Pink Zone Event

The women’s basketball team will host a Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Pink Zone event this Friday, Feb. 11, in a 6 p.m. home game against Oswego.

The Cardinals will join the WBCA Pink Zone initiative, which unifies coaches and players across the country in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in local communities and beyond. The initiative also raises funds for scientific research aimed at finding a cure for breast cancer.

Members of the Plattsburgh Roller Derby team, the North Country Lumber Jills, will be on hand to distribute pink ribbons and assist in the sale of a limited number of Plattsburgh State Pink Zone shirts, which will be available for $10 apiece.

Plattsburgh State Student-Athlete Advisory Committee members will also aid in the cause, selling pink tie-dye t-shirts for $5 each.

Members of the Plattsburgh State women’s basketball team will also conduct a 50/50 raffle during Friday night’s men’s basketball game at 8 p.m. against Oswego.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center Treasure Chest Fund of CVPH.
