William Laundry to Remain Interim Vice President Through 2006
PLATTSBURGH, NY __ William Laundry, interim vice president for student affairs at
the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh, has agreed to remain in his
current role through the 2005-06 academic year. The announcement was made by John
Ettling, president of Plattsburgh State.
Laundry was originally scheduled to serve through the end of the current academic year. However, Ettling said he asked Laundry to remain on for an additional year after having had the chance to work with him the past four months.
"Bill took over the role as interim vice president in September 2003 and has done a marvelous job overseeing this important division. I appreciate his commitment to the students. The vice presidents and directors have confirmed my impressions of him during the short time I have been here. They are just as enthusiastic about him as I am," said Ettling.
"Bill's continued leadership in student affairs will afford me the opportunity to continue to settle in to my new position and to evaluate the many needs of the campus and direction for the coming years."
Laundry came to Plattsburgh State in 1969 as director of housing. He was promoted to director of residence life in 1976 and then director of campus life in 1980. He served as dean of students from 1996 to 2003 and was promoted to associate vice president for student affairs June 30 of last year. Laundry is involved in many college-wide committees and community organizations.
He holds a bachelor's and a master's degree from SUNY Albany.
