Visual Artist Series Presents Printmaker Feb. 17


PLATTSBURGH, NY __ The Visual Artist Series at the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh kicks off its spring semester with a presentation by Printmaker Janet Ballweg on Thursday, Feb. 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the Cardinal Lounge, Angell College Center. 

Ballweg is a professor of art and the head of printmaking at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. She received an MFA in printmaking from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana (1985), and a B.S. in Art from the University of Wisconsin - Madison (1983). 
 
Her current research involves the integration of digital imaging and photopolymer printing. Other research includes painting and artists handmade books.

Ballweg has exhibited in more than 150 juried regional/national/international exhibitions and over 50 invitational and solo exhibitions.

Her recent exhibitions include: The International Biennial of Miniature Art, Czestochowa, Poland; 5th Kochi International Triennial Print Exhibition, Kochi, Japan; The International Small Engraving Salon, Carbunari, Romania; Iowa Miniprint International, Iowa City, Iowa; Delta National Small Prints Exhibition, Jonesboro, Ark.; Boston Printmakers Print Biennial; and 60 Square Inches Exhibition, West Lafayette, Ind. 

Ballweg, whose work has received more than 40 awards since 1983, is a member of the Southern Graphics Council, the American Print Alliance and the Mid America Print Council.

The Visual Artist Series, which is sponsored by the Campus Arts Council and the Student Association, is free and open to the public.
