Visual Artist Lynne Avadenka to Present April 7
PLATTSBURGH, NY __ Book artist/ calligrapher Lynne Avadenka will be the final presenter
in this semester's Visual Artist Series at the State University of New York College
at Plattsburgh. Her presentation will be held on Thursday, April 7 at 7:30 p.m. in
the Cardinal Lounge, Angell College Center. The presentation is free and open to the
public.
Avandeka uses a mixture of words and images in her creations. Many of Avandeka's works also depict the arts and humanities in Jewish life.
Avandeka has taught at the Center for Book Arts in New York City and is currently an instructor at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Mich.
Some of her work is on exhibition in the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.; Detroit Institute of the Arts in Detroit, Mich.; Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, Ill.; New York Public Library in New York, N.Y.; Israel Museum in Jerusalem; and several others.
Since 1981, Avandeka has been printing limited editions under the imprint of Land Mark Press. She has also published limited editions of noted writers including Philip Levine, Shulamith Hareven, Yehuda Amichai, Amos Oz and A.B. Yehoshua. Her most recent limited edition, "Root Words," is collaboration with the world-renowned Islamic calligrapher, Mohamed Zakariya.
