Thrive Fest Promotes Wellness, Campus and Community Resources
Thrive Fest, SUNY Plattsburgh’s Wellness and Health Promotion Program annual event that showcases resources available both on and off campus for students, featured reps from the American Red Cross to University Police in Amite Plaza Sept. 11.
“Thrive Fest is a day to support students feel empowered and supported and know that
there is an abundance of people across campus and in the community who care about
them,” said Sarah Erno, wellness and health program coordinator. “These and so many
more resources are out there to help students live a healthy life.”
Tabling around the plaza focused on the Cardinals Thrive initiative, which looks at
health and wellness from a holistic perspective and operates on eight dimensions:
Physical, emotional, social, environmental, intellectual, spiritual, financial and
occupational wellness. Participants offered informational handouts, games, prizes
and merch for the dozens of students, faculty and staff members who turned out.
Thrive Fest participants included the aforementioned Red Cross, which had a CPR “Manikin,”
and UP, which hosted a free snack buffet, as well as:
- Plattsburgh City Police Department
- Student Engagement and Leadership
- Project HELP
- Student Association, promoting its clubs and organizations
- Accessibility and Resource Office
- Career Development Center
- Student Health and Counseling Center
- Cardinal Cupboard
- State Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation representatives from Point au Roche State Park
- TRIO Student Support Services
- Planned Parenthood
- Title IX, and more.
