Three Cardinals Receive All-Region Honors
The National Fastpitch Coaches Association has named Plattsburgh softball players Ashley Marshall, Erin Jamieson and Brianna Clarke to its 2011 NFCA Division III All-Northeast Region list.
Marshall and Jamieson each landed spots on the first team. This marks the second straight year Marshall has received all-region honors – earning second team honors in her freshman year. Jamieson, a senior center fielder for the Cardinals, garners the first all-region accolades of her career. Clarke received a third team nod as an at-large pick.
Marshall, a sophomore pitcher out of Malone, N.Y., posted an 18-6 record in the circle with a 1.07 earned-run average. Marshall tossed 21 complete games, including a single-season record 11 shutouts. She also earned six saves. Marshall led the State University of New York Athletic Conference with 238 strikeouts in 164 innings of work, while opponents hit a league-low .169 against her. She was also eighth in the country with an average of 10.2 strikeouts per seven innings.
A senior center fielder out of Adams, N.Y., Jamieson earns her first all-region honors after leading the Cardinals with a .367 batting average – a career high. She also helped push the Plattsburgh offense with a .453 on-base percentage, eight doubles and three triples.

The Manorville, N.Y. native finished the season with a .345 batting average, third-best on the team, and a .555 slugging percentage. In addition to Clarke’s prowess at the plate, she posted a .994 fielding percentage – tied for highest among Plattsburgh regulars.
