Thoracic Surgeon Returns to SUNY Plattsburgh As Distinguished Visiting Alumnus


Thoracic and cardiac surgeon, author, U.S. Navy surgeon and SUNY Plattsburgh alumnus Dr. Hassan Tetteh returns to his alma mater for a two-day campus visit as part of the Distinguished Visiting Alumni program April 20-21.

Tetteh, who graduated in 1994, will give a public presentation, “Conversations with the Distinguished Visiting Alumnus,” Wednesday,  April 20 at 4 p.m. in Room 106, Hudson Hall. 

The following day at 4 p.m., he’ll speak in Krinovitz Recital Hall, Hawkins Hall, and sign copies of his book, “Gifts of the Heart,” a novel about a young military physician and heart surgeon who comes of age in the desert of Afghanistan.

Also on Thursday, he’ll be guest speaker at the Educational Opportunity Program’s academic awards ceremony at 6:30 p.m. in the Cardinal Lounge, Angell College Center.
