Theater Adjunct, Peru Free Library to Present More Radio Theater!
A SUNY Plattsburgh adjunct theater lecturer and the Peru Free Library will present More Radio Theater!, an eight-week program that explores the basics of acting and acting for the radio. The program begins at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 24, and will culminate in a 7:30 p.m. performance Monday, May 12.
This Creative Aging program is supported by a Lifetime Arts grant from the AARP Foundation.
This is the second radio theater program to be offered at the Peru Free Library. This time around, participants will rehearse and present “The Scrap of Lace” (also known as “A Scrap of Lace”), a mystery written by Hulbert Footner. The play was written in the 1920s and presented in 1942 on the radio series “Murder Clinic.”
In addition to “The Scrap of Lace,” participants will explore other pieces suitable for radio performance.
No prior experience with radio drama is necessary. Participants will learn everything they need to know during the workshop sessions.
The program was created by Karen Hildebrand, a part-time instructor in acting/directing and playwriting at SUNY Plattsburgh.
Registration begins March 1 for new participants and March 3 for returning participants. If you are interested in signing up for the workshop, call the Peru Free Library at 518-643-8618.
