Symphonic Band Presents "Folk Songs from Around the World"
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (April 12, 2010) – SUNY Plattsburgh's Department of Music presents the SUNY Plattsburgh Symphonic Band, under the direction of Daniel Gordon, in a spring concert at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 22, in E. Glenn Giltz Auditorium, Hawkins Hall.
The program is titled "Folk Songs from Around the World." The ensemble will perform
folk songs from five nationalities. The songs include Elie Siegmeister's "Five American
Folk-Songs" and Frank Ticheli's "Cajun Folk Songs," Percy Grainger's "Lincolnshire
Posy," Bin Kaneda's "Japanese Folk Song Suite," H. Owen Reed's "La Fiesta Mexicana,"
and Darius Milhaud's "Suite Francaise."
The concert is free and open to the public.
