Sydney Aveson Receives Second Straight ECAC Weekly Honors
The Eastern College Athletic Conference has named Sydney Aveson of the Plattsburgh State women's hockey team Goalie of the Week in the Women's West Division for the week ending Jan. 22.
Aveson earns her second consecutive goalie of the week award after a pair of shutout wins at Oswego State. The junior out of West Covina, Calif. made 19 saves in a 5-0 win on Saturday before stopping 18 shots in a 6-0 victory on Sunday. The Cardinals are unbeaten in their last six games.
Junior Teal Gove was also recognized for the second straight week on the honor roll. Gove recorded five points off of two goals and three assists in the 2-0 week for Plattsburgh. The Berwick, Ontario native tallied a short-handed goal and an assist in Saturday’s win. On Sunday, Gove recorded her 10th goal of the year on a Plattsburgh power-play while assisting on two other Cardinal goals.
Plattsburgh hits the road this weekend for a crucial two-game series at Elmira on Saturday and Sunday.
