Suzanne Perley Re-Appointed to SUNY Plattsburgh College Council


PLATTSBURGH, NY __ Suzanne Perley of Essex, N.Y. has been re-appointed by Gov. George Pataki to the College Council at the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh.

Perley, a small business consultant, was first appointed to the Council in August of 2000 to fill an unexpired term. Her re-appointment is for seven years and will last through June 30, 2011.

During her nearly four-year tenure on the Council, Perley has had an exceptional record of attendance at Council meetings. She serves at the Council's liaison to the Division of Student Affairs and was a member of the Council's Presidential Selection Committee that led to the appointment of John Ettling.

Acting Council Chairperson Arnold Amell, said he was very pleased that Gov. Pataki has re-appointed Perley to the College Council at Plattsburgh.

"Ms. Perley has been a very conscientious member of the Council, has provided significant and meaningful input at Council meetings and in her committee work, and she is a positive, pro-active participant," said Amell. "Suzanne is a bright and very active member of her community and is highly respected by her fellow Council members."

Perley is a councilperson and deputy supervisor of the Essex Town Board. She serves as a director of the Willsboro Development Corporation and the Paine Memorial Free Library and as treasurer for the Willsboro Development Corporation and the Town of Essex Fire District, No. 1. She also serves as a corporation member of CVPH Medical Center.

Perley has also held a number of other positions on community boards including: Smith House Health Care Center (director and chair); Elizabethtown Community Hospital (director and chair); Cornell Cooperative Extension of Essex County (director); Willsboro-Essex Senior Housing Corp. (director); WCFE TV Advisory Board (member); The Depot Theatre, Westport (director); and Greater Manchester New Hampshire YMCA (director).

She holds a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of New Hampshire, Durham. Perley and her husband, John, live in Essex.
