SUNY Plattsburgh Welcomes Alumni Back for Reunion 2013
SUNY Plattsburgh alumni from all class years are invited to attend two of this year’s key Reunion events.
Both the Clambake and the Red and White Night at the Boathouse at Valcour Conference Center will take place Saturday, July 13, and will feature music, food and guest appearances by President John Ettling and the campus mascot, Burghy.
Meanwhile, alumni from class years ending in three and eight are invited to attend a wide-range of other Reunion festivities, July 11-14, including wine tastings, a barbecue at the Naked Turtle and a tour of the region given by former Vice President of Student Affairs Bill Laundry.
“We’re very excited to welcome alumni back to campus to enjoy the beautiful North Country summer weather,” said Joanne Nelson, director of alumni relations. “There are so many things to do and see in Plattsburgh in July, and we’ve designed a great Reunion program for all returning alumni.”
As in previous years, Reunion weekend will coincide with Plattsburgh’s annual Mayor’s Cup Regatta and Festival, which will host outdoor concerts featuring the bands Enter the Haggis and Gas House Gorillas. In addition there will be the Mayor’s Cup Fun Run 5k, the annual Mayor’s Cup Regatta, fireworks and more family-friendly activities.
Members of the Class of 1963, now celebrating their 50th anniversary, will be treated to special events including a reception, a dinner and induction into the Golden Anniversary Club during a special breakfast with President John Ettling.
Meanwhile, alumni who want to relive their college days in yet another way can register to spend the night in Macdonough.
“This is a really popular feature of Reunion,” Nelson said. “Who doesn’t want to go back and visit their old residence hall? And for several years, Macdonough was the only residence hall on campus.”
Alumni are encouraged to register by calling 518-564-2090 before July 8.
