SUNY Plattsburgh to Hold Sept. 11 Memorial Service
PLATTSBURGH, NY __ A memorial service in remembrance of the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001, will be held at the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh on Monday, Sept. 11, at 12 noon at Hawkins Pond, adjacent to Hawkins Hall.
The service, which is open to the public, will be held at the memorial honoring two Plattsburgh State alumni who perished in the collapse of the World Trade Center. Robert Sutcliffe was a 1984 graduate and worked as a broker for Harvey, Young and Yurman. William Erwin, a 1992 graduate, was a broker from Cantor Fitzgerald.
Kimberly Garrison, a junior anthropology major from Canajoharie, N.Y. and executive vice president for the Student Association (SA) at SUNY Plattsburgh, will be the master of ceremonies.
Protestant Campus Minister Steve Smith will lead the audience in an opening prayer.
Michael Cashman, SA president, and Dr. Richard Schnell, distinguished service professor of counselor education, will make brief remarks, and the Plattsburgh State Gospel Choir will perform. The closing prayer will be led by Heidi Waldmann, Rabbi for the Temple Beth Israel.
