SUNY Plattsburgh Hosts Tree Lighting Ceremony Dec. 1
SUNY Plattsburgh’s Student Activities and Volunteerism Office is hosting the college’s annual Tree Lighting Ceremony Dec. 1 from 4:30 to 5 p.m. by the Angell College Center information desk.
Serving as a lead up to the World AIDS Day Fair, the event will feature Student Association Executive Vice President Charles Sanchez as emcee, a speech by Student Senate Representative Pooja Flora and music by the college’s Gospel Choir. AIDS awareness ribbons and candles will be distributed during the ceremony.
The World AIDS Day Fair will take place directly after the ceremony and will run from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Warren Ballrooms, Angell College Center.
The fair will include:
- An AIDS panel discussion hosted by Dr. Kristen Isgro, assistant professor of communication, from 5 to 5:45 p.m.
- A special presentation by Dr. J.W. Wiley and others from the Center for Diversity, Pluralism and Inclusion from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m.
- A performance by the student-run a cappella group Minor Adjustments from 7:45 to 7:50 p.m.
- Closing ceremonies from 7:50 to 8 p.m.
