SUNY Plattsburgh concert sponsored by Bluegrass for the Next Generation
WHO: The Gibson Brothers
The Gibson Brothers, two time IBMA Entertainers of the Year, is a bluegrass band comprised
of alumni brothers Eric and Leigh Gibson, Mike Barber, Clayton Campbell, and Jesse
Brock. The band recorded their first album in 1994 and signed a contract with Hay
Holler Records a year later. Since then, the group has won numerous prestigious awards
such as Song of the Year (2013), Album of the Year (2011 and 2012), and Entertainer
of the Year (2012 and 2013). This year, the band signed with Rounder Records.
Bluegrass for the Next Generation started in 2011 intended to promote bluegrass music, education and awareness at SUNY Plattsburgh and in New York’s North Country. Our mission is to encourage a lifelong interest in acoustic music in general and bluegrass in particular. We are working to help younger generations experience and discover bluegrass and to actively encourage young people to listen, join in and get together.
