SUNY Plattsburgh at Queensbury Presents Free Leadership Forum and Networking Reception
SUNY Plattsburgh at Queensbury will present a free forum designed to give community members and representatives of local organizations the chance to learn about the role of leadership in various professional contexts.
The forum will take place on May 1, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Queensbury High School Auditorium, 409 Aviation Road in Queensbury. A networking reception with refreshments will kick off the evening at 6 p.m., enabling guests to mingle and meet leaders and leadership educators.
Presentations will begin at 7 p.m. Alumni and faculty from the college’s Master of Science and Certificate of Advanced Studies in Leadership programs will offer three presentations on current leadership topics:
— Lt. Greg Veitch of the Saratoga Police Department will share insights from his state-wide research on “Leadership in the Policing Environment” and discuss best practices in training leaders in the law enforcement community.
— Sherry Aiken, regional director of human resources for St. Gobain Performance Plastics will present “Leadership and Innovation,” exploring ways in which leaders in multinational corporations can foster innovating thinking and practices.
— Dr. Chandler Atkins, industrial psychologist, SUNY Adirondack professor and a faculty member in the leadership programs at SUNY Plattsburgh, will present “The Psychology of Leadership.”
A guided discussion will follow each presentation.
The leadership forum is intended for anyone with an interest in leadership and management, as well as individuals contemplating a career change or a step toward career advancement.
The event is free to the public and co-sponsored by the Glens Falls Rotary Club, Economic Development Corporation of Warren County and the Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce.
