"Stop the Hate" Training Program March 20-22
PLATTSBURGH, NY —Hate crimes and hate incidents seriously threaten our society. Thousands of people are victimized each year because of their skin color, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity and sexual orientation.
The State University of New York College at Plattsburgh will sponsor a "Stop the Hate" Training Program Tuesday - Thursday, March 20 - 22. This will be an opportunity for college students, faculty, staff and community members to learn innovative tools to take action on hate crimes and bias-motivated violence issues.
Participants in the training program, which is being sponsored by the SUNY Plattsburgh Violence Prevention Project, will receive a Model Hate Crime Prevention training manual, skills and information to teach others about anti-hate initiatives and approaches to responding to hate crimes and bias-motivated incidents. They will also learn about hate crime legislation and legal issues, expert resources and access to current hate crime issues and materials as well as ongoing resources and support.
For more information or to register, visit www.stophate.org or contact the Violence Prevention Project at 518-564-4028. Early bird registration is $295 for Association of College Unions International (ACUI) members and $395 for nonmembers. Please note that the early bird registration deadline is Monday, Feb. 19.
